ABOUT THE ARTIST: Lawrence Ferlinghetti (born 1919) earned an M.A. at Columbia University and a doctorate in literature at the University of Paris, Sorbonne. In the U.S., his paintings have been exhibited at The Butler Institute of American Art, The Whitney Museum in New York, and at the San Jose Museum of Art. His artwork is in the permanent collections of The Smithsonian Museum of American Art and the fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.
