We have decided to create a combined anthology for erasure poems based on page 11 (New Year’s Day — new beginnings as the inspiration), 214 (Valentine’s Day — love-related), and 41 (April Fool’s Day — fun/absurdity-related) — and call it the Silver Birch Press By the Numbers Erasure Poetry Anthology. We will release the book toward the end of 2014.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
For examples of erasure poetry, see this link.
1. Select a book or books and create erasure poems based on the following page(s): 11 (New Year’s Day — new beginnings as the inspiration), 214 (Valentine’s Day — love-related), and 41 (April Fool’s Day — fun/absurdity-related). Make sure that the page number remains visible. You may submit up to three poems in each category.
2. Photocopy the page, then mark out, white out, circle, or in some other way (see examples), eliminate some of the words. The remaining words constitute your erasure poem.
3. Give your poem a title.
4. Scan (or take a photo of) your marked-up copy and create a PDF or JPG file. (We prefer files of at least 1MB, but will accept lower-resolution files.)
5. Create a separate typed version in MSWord or in an email.
6. Send an email with your erasure poetry to silver@silverbirchpress.com along with your name, mailing address, email address, one-paragraph bio, and the Title, edition, publication date, and page number of the book.
DEADLINE: June 1, 2014
I assume that if we’ve already submitted a piece as part of the previous calls for submission (eg the Valentine’s erasure poem) that we don’t need to resubmit for the anthology. Is that right?
Yes, you don’t have to submit again for the anthology. Thanks for your submission, Ron.
No worries, thanks for posting it. 🙂
