COLORS
by Sylvia Ashby

when I closed my eyes
the other day
I saw green
for the first time
green
like smart grass

then yesterday
orange
ripe as summer
pulpy

today
back to
basic black
or hedgerow of nurses

still waiting
for yellow
to burst in my head
like dangerous flowers

is waiting
for yellow to show
something like
waiting for Godot?
